First, the building looks abandoned on the outside. When my dad suggested we go there for dinner, my first response was, "its closed down isn't it?" 🤦🏻♀️ I've eaten there a few times before and it was good, but they give less food now; although portions are still plentiful. Honestly, the place needs a face lift inside and out because the deserted vibe/atmosphere makes the dining experience awkward.
Its so so. Def could improve their flavor a bit. The last time I went the fish was bland.
Good food and good service. The only thing that I didn't like was that there was too much seasoning on the broiled shrimp. Complained about it and the waiter understood and got a new order without seasoning.
The food is the best in town
Fresh and delicious food. Clean and comfortable environment. Friendly and courteous staff.
Crab - shrimp dip was very good, but not enough pita slices for the size served. Catfish, sea scallops, and jumbo shrimp good. Breading heavier than on some Calabash style cooking. Catfish was excellent. Shrimp and scallops slightly overcooked but good. Service good and order delivered reasonably fast.Sweet tea moderately strong and sweet. Enjoyed it.
Good food, good service, fair price
I ordered my food yesterday. I know they just opened up, but my food tasted and smelled like it was burnt. I dont think nobody should get their food and it smells burnt. In the building it had a burnt smell. I would wait a long time before going back over there.
The service was excellent, the food was delicious & the amount you get is worth every penny.
This is the second time I have eaten at this restaurant and I have experienced nothing less than delicious hot food and great customer service. The waiter was very attentive and checked on us throughout our meal. Our drinks stayed refilled and his attitude was positive as we asked several questions about substitutions and specials. There are specials available everyday of the week and the prices are affordable even without special pricing. My husband enjoys building his meal while I prefer to pick from an entree on the menu. There are plenty of options outside of seafood so you really can't go wrong if you pick this place to dine at. The portions are plentyful so come with an appetite, but you can also carry home what you don't eat. Highly recommended!
It was adequate. Everything was cooked well, pretty much what I expected from a Mayflower.
Very good food and service with reasonable prices.
Mayflower seafood is a great place for fried fish. The plates are large and the fish is very fresh. It's very close to Seymour Johnson AFB and the service is fast. The shrimp are small but they give you a bunch of them, and the cocktail sauce really brings out the flavor in the batter coating. The hushpuppies look a bit like onion rings and they're excellent. Great food at a great value. Definitely recommend it.
We ordered take out, the girl was very nice and helpful. It was ready quickly. It was very good as well we enjoyed it a lot. Thank you!
Expectations met. Food good
Food was fresh and delicious! And the proportions are off the chain💙💙💙
Mayflower has good seafood. They have a Senior citizen menu and a kids menu. The also have lunch specials Monday thru Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm where you can get combination meals at a great price. I like their white fish and popcorn shrimp. They have non seafood dishes too if somebody in your party doesn't like seafood. The staff is usually good too.
Great customer service. The food was mehh. To be fair I lived in Maryland so my expectation of seafood is different from most people. I got the crab legs. Good price, they were just ok. Better than an all you can eat buffet though. Also got the stuffed crab. It tasted mostly like bread. Again, great customer service, if you are not big on seafood then it will be good.
If you want fresh fish this is the place to go if you want fresh cooked fish AND excellent customer service this is not the place to go. You can get fried fish or broiled fish. They also have daily specials. You get plenty of food for your money. This restaurant really does shove that nautical theme down your throat. The bathrooms were very clean. I had to raise my hand t0 get noticed by my waiter and my tea glass took forever to be refilled. Great Food but Horrible customer service...
good food
Good tastes as if it was cooked in old grease. My first time experiencing this.
Always a joy to eat here. Food comes out quickly and is always good. Staff is pretty awesome too. My glass never gets more than half empty before someone comes to refill. They are accommodating and attentive. This is the best Mayflower!!
Always great service. Love the crew and management.
Shrimp and fish excellent and love there coleslaw and okra are banging
Excellent food service wait staff and clean cozy environment. Jessica is a rockstar. Great place to eat and the food was hot
Expensive for 1 adult 1 senior one 6 yr old one 9 yr old on sun 48.00. No more sunday visits..lol waitress nice.
Grouper was great! Had lunch, winter came and checked on us at least 4 or 5 times. Food hot and had plenty to eat.
The food was great will be back again.
When the shrimp and crab dip appetizer came out it was hot and looked great but as we started stirring it the cheese started separating. It was not good. We then got boiled shrimp which were suppose to be hot but they were warm at best. I had fried okra that was burnt and hard, and slaw that tasted sour. Some of my shrimp also still had shell on them that I did not see until I had a mouth full. To top off the entire meal, I ordered a cluster of crab legs. When I got them, they were not hot, they were completely covered in a seasoning that was gritty and there was hardly any meat at all. The server was a gem and was very polite. We had to leave in a hurry due to an emergency so we could not speak to anyone about our experience. We do not plan on going back.
This was my first trip to any Mayflower restaurant in over a decade! A lot has changed (they are pretty skimpy on the popcorn shrimp now), but the portion sizes were decent overall (take a look at this flounder!! So big, it completely covered up my hush puppies!)....the fish was very crispy, but it could have used seasoning. Past what’s in the batter, the meat underneath was so bla-...doesn’t deserve the “-nd”... The server and service were very good tho, and yes, they do offer military discount, but only on regularly priced items (not what I had). I’d order the same meal again tho (whole flounder and shrimp special, $14.99), but I’d definitely splurge and pay the extra 0.50 for salt n pepper seasoning.... I think that’s what was written on the menu...
Service was great!
My honest review, my wife and I went on a Friday around 7:30. I noticed all of the workers clowning around and were loud. My wife had stuffed crab with slaw, hush puppies and fries. Stuffed crab looked burnt and there was two different cuts of fries. She did not like hers, I didn't try any of it. I got broiled jumbo shrimp with slaw, baked potato and hush puppies. The shrimp was offered in regular or large. Regular was $12.99 and large was $16.99. I asked what was the difference in the two, answer was regular was 10 shrimp and large was 12 shrimp. For $4 you get TWO more shrimp. I got regular which the shrimp were large if that and not jumbo. Bake potato was still hard, slaw was bland. Salt and pepper shakers had food on them, and the bottom of the seat in the booth was loose and flipped up. Was hoping for better
Food was ok. It all tasted the same. Didn't have any seasoning. Same with the clam chowder, it was very bland. We stressed to our server that my mother cant eat shrimp and to make sure the kitchen was aware. She ended up finding a piece of shrimp mixed in with her food. The sever did a good job and they discounted her meal but we wont return.
Good atmosphere, friendly staff. Baked potato was a little under done, but everything else was excellent. Highly recommend for your seafood needs.
This place is awesome for seafood. The service is fantastic.we will be.going back again and again.
I went in for take out ordered food 2 large plates and it was ready in 10 mintues! The young lady Abby that helped me did a really good job! I will definitely be back to the Mayflower in Goldsboro!
This place is terrible. If you want quality seafood then don't come here. If you want all your seafood fried and tasteless then this is the place for you.
The staff was really friendly & on top of everything we needed, the food was excellent and the restaurant itself is nicely decorated & clean. We arrived around 6pm to a full parking lot & thought it would be a long wait, but we got seated right away and got our order within 15-20 minutes & it was perfect! Highly recommend if you are looking for seafood while visiting Goldsboro.
Food was decent. The flounder and french fries were bland but the shrimp was good. My waitress was very friendly. I would eat here again.
My food is always hot and fresh..looking forward going back soon. Love the staff too. They made sure my food was hot.
Very good popcorn shrimp, very so-so fries. The day I was there the AC was not working well or had just been turned on and there was a noticeable mildew smell but we were already committed to the location. I'd try again
Great service. Family friendly environment. Awesome food. Prices very reasonable. This a family favorite.
Food is excellent, prices are great, services from the staff was on point. It's been 2 years since I have been to NC to eat at Mayflower but I recommend it. I wish they will build a couple in New Jersey!!!
Food was ok, service was pleasant and fast. Price was a bit higher than I was expecting.
The food was good, the waiter was attentive. I didn't think it was going to be good. It was hot and no air flow.
I was in Goldsboro today and decided to go have an early lunch. I was seated quickly by a nice young man. As I was looking at the menu, I thought the prices seemed to be pretty high for lunch, but when the wait staff came, she immediately showed me where the more wallet-friendly lunch menu was (pasted to the front of the napkin holder). For the amount of food one is served, and the quality, the prices for lunch are fair. I had popcorn shrimp but the shrimp were much bigger, in my opinion, than what I would consider popcorn size. My meal was served quickly, and the wait staff was attentive and very nice. I would certainly come here again.
Seafood is prepared as you order so no half warm chewy meat. Always fresh and hot the warm good folks like. Seaman or land lover you will enjoy the taste.
Goldsboro's best seafood restaurant. Jumbo shrimp and oysters are the best...oh I forgot their hush puppies boy are they good.
Awesome lunch specials & tons of food! Love their shrimp & trout!
